the candy shop.

It’s day four of late night posting.  I should really start to plan this better so I’m not posting in the wee hours of the morning.

candy-shop-invitationfrontI want to share this video with you.  I watched it for the first time a few years back and it’s haunting.  The man reminds me of the creeper child kidnapper man in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.  Anyway, it’s a video about child trafficking.

Now, trafficking means a lot of different things.  People can be trafficked into the sex trade, sweatshops, forced labor or even the military.  Trafficking is essentially the loss of freedom for an individual.  They are held and forced to work, in some capacity, against their will.  Men, women, and children can be trafficked.  According to Polaris, 20.9 million people are enslaved in the modern world.  Enslaved, people!  That’s ridiculous and infuriating!  And it’s not just in far out, podunk parts of the world.  It happens here in the U.S.  It’s gone down here in small town Iowa.  So think on that as you watch this video.  That someone you’ve interacted with could be in this position and how difficult that must be.  That’s reality for a good chunk of people in this world and it needs to stop.

So, here’s the video.
